Bennett Estates in Pasadena ? (townhomes, neighborhood, to live in)

Had someone ask me about Bennett Estates in Pasadena (they have no kids) between Ramsey & Birnham Woods. They are looking at that area because homes and some townhomes are very affordable. I know nothing about that area - however drove through it to take a view and give them my comments. Drove through - appears to be a very old neighborhood but for the most part appeared decent with most yards maintained fairly well. But that's all I can tell them - anyone familiar with these areas who can vouch for the safety of the area and overall lifestyle? Yes they know it is Pasadena and they know it is about midway between Fairmont and the highway 225 area but seem content with the proximity to 225 area as long as the area is a decent one for them to live in. I can't adequately answer their questions so am hoping someone who either lives in the area or is very familiar with it can provide some insight for me to give them.
