These two well established multi concept Houston based chains have made a name for themselves.

The reason I didn’t include Fertitta/Landry’s is because that’s a national portfolio that’s mostly fine dining or tourist themed concepts. Goode Co. and Papa’s name each of their concepts after it’s own name so you know it’s them.

Edit: sorry for the typo in the title

Pappas Bros steakhouse is among the top steakhouses in the US.

For that reason alone, Pappas wins.

I prefer Pappadeaux over Goode Co. Seafood.

I prefer Pappasitos over Goode Co. Cantina.

In general, I prefer Pappas restaurants over Goode Co.

The only exception is for BBQ.

I like Goode’s seafood better than any seafood I’ve had in Houston. I wanted to like Pappadeaux but it’s oily. I also like Goode cantina better than Pappasitos, which again is oily. I DID like Pappas bbq better than I thought. Also I thought Yia Yia Mary’s was a great restaurant—so sad to see that go.

Goode Co. BBQ isn't the best, but it's better than Pappas IMO.

Also, I've always loved Goode Co. Seafood. It was actually somewhat innovative back in the 1990s in how it combined TX Gulf Coast styles with Louisiana and Tex-Mex. Pappadeaux is fine (though to me a little expensive for what they're offering) - the fried crawfish salad is pretty great - but still Goode Co. wins there for me.

Can't really comment on their Tex-Mex and other establishments.

I honestly find Goode Co. extremely overrated.

Most of the Pappas restaurants are overrated too but Pappas Burgers and Pappas Steak are very good.

Goode Co. BBQ >> Papa's BBQ (get the sliced BBQ brisket on the Jalapeno Bread!)

Goode Co. Mexican >> Pappasitos (although both are very good). I get the grilled chicken breast at Goode Co. which is delicious. At Pappasitos I would usually get fajitas.

Pappa's Seafood and Pappadeux are both very good. I can't think of a good comparison for Pappadeux in Houston. I've never been to the Goode Co. Seafood restaurant.

Pappas steakhouse really is excellent.

The Pappas original Dot Coffee shop is pretty good; I'd give it an edge over Kelley's.

Last time I was at Pappadeaux some of the food was obviously frozen. There are independently-owned seafood type joints from Baytown to Clear Lake to Galveston that are better than this.

They’re both winners. Each one does their own thing exceptionally well. I love tucking into Goode Co. seafood for a weekday lunch with a friend. But I enjoy Pappadeux for a family meal where the ten of us have an age range of 2-80 years old. I love Goode Co. Taqueria but I’m always satisfied with a Pappasitos meal be it from a location in Clear Lake, by the Dome or off 290.

We prefer Goode Company.

IDK if they have ever been fined for bussing their undocumented kitchen help from one town to another like Papas has. Been a long time ago, but still. Ya can't love trump and Pappas.
