Oh, that's primarily the Corporate HQ? I thought it was entirely a giant a$$ Shipley's location......which would have been awesome, LOL.

A large portion of it will be corporate but it will have a huge Shipley nonetheless. And apparently a “drive through with a show”. If you look in the right side of the building, you can see the interior entrance to the drive through. And it’s also where they will roll out experimental flavors and the new coffee menu.

Quote:
The state-of-the-art facility, slated to open in the last quarter of 2022, will feature a full working flagship Shipley Do-Nut shop with an interior drive-thru going right through the building that will provide a unique look behind the scenes into the making of "The World's Greatest Do-Nut." The headquarters will be named the L.W. "Bud" Shipley Jr. Support Center, after founder Lawrence Shipley's son, who grew the brand from a local family business to a chain of nearly 200 locations.

"Bud Shipley was the visionary behind the company's initial growth, and it's only fitting that our new support center, which we're building to accommodate our growing company, be named after him," said Shipley Do-Nuts CEO Clifton Rutledge. "I can think of no better way to celebrate our birthday than by breaking ground on our headquarters for our next 85 years."

The two-story building will be home to the company's new state-of-the-art yeast do-nut mix manufacturing facility and a do-nut innovation center, plus office space for about 130 people. It will replace Shipley's longtime Houston headquarters on North Main Street, which the company has occupied for more than 40 years and has since outgrown, with some employees now working from several additional buildings in the area. Shipley has added some 60 corporate employees in the past two years.

The fast-growing brand, now with more than 330 locations, has franchise commitments in place to open an additional 300 over the next five years in Texas, and across the Southeast. It is actively recruiting additional franchisees in new and existing markets, with a focus on increasing its presence in Colorado and Oklahoma. Houston-based Lovett Commercial is the project developer for the L.W. "Bud" Shipley Jr. Support Center, and Bill Higbie is the builder.
I know someone who works with Peak Rock Capital and it appears they are also planning on opening new locations that have donuts shipped in rather than made on site. Which i guess sucks. But you have to evolve to grow I guess. Atleast we get a new coffee menu. And apparently they’re also doing donuts sold at grocery stores (perhaps HEB).

So what are they gonna do with the old Shipley building/warehouse in the heights? The article says that the corporate employees have been working in different buildings and they will be consolidated in this picture. Will the current building be used as warehouse space or will it be sold?

That's a prime redevelopment site, they could get a big capital infusion from selling it.

I’m actually not ruling out them keeping it and using it as a warehouse. If things go as planned, the Shipley franchise will more than double its national footprint. So far, things are working because they’ve been opening lots of stores in Colorado, Florida and Louisiana. With this large rapid growth, they could use the extra warehouse space.

It’s reasons like this that I’m not mad when a local business gets bought. Sometimes, a company just doesn’t have the funds to grow. One thing is an airline merger or big tech merger. Another is a capital firm making an investment that allows a company to grow. They give the company the Capital to grow and hire the employees to support it. It worked for Academy and it seems to be good here as well.

Where are they planning to place the shacks and shanties to house the illegal slave labor to whom they pay substandard wages? Or, did they choose that location for its proximity to 4th Ward, where they already live?

Doubt they would work in this location. Those would be working in Shipley franchises locations under fake IDs
