I track all of my neighbors values to make sure they are in line with my house on a price/sq ft every year. This year I was updating & I noticed a house was missing. I am searching by address because I know you can hide the name (& they do or have done in the past). My neighbor works in county politics... its seems suspicious but maybe rules changed? Can city or county officials hide their properties? I feel like this should be public record. I get not wanting to put their name on it but I should be able to see how their house is valued?

Has anyone else seen this?

The owner can be hidden, sort of, but the property should still be there. Use the interactive map, and zoom in to the property, then click on it. Sometimes the addresses get messed up.

Your neighbor isn't that special .

I have the owner name hidden for both of our properties. When I search HCAD for each of our streets, our houses do not show up. If I search for our house # + street, the houses do show up (with owner name hidden). Just a quirk of the HCAD database, I guess.

If I know your address, I can find your name, even if it's shown as Current Owner on HCAD, assuming you don't have a corporate owner

No that's not what I mean. I know you can hide your name. What I'm saying is I when I search the address nothing comes up. If I type in the address 123 Main and the owner name is hidden it would come up:

Current Owner
123 Main
Houston, TX 77002

Searching the interactive map worked! Thanks I did not know that feature existed. Very helpful!
