My 4 year old son has been diagnosed with articulation problems and is currently seeing a speech therapist 3 times a week.

Next year he is due to start Pre-K but I worry about his speech being an issue and would like for him to attend a school where there speech related services available to him.

We live in the Fort Bend school district and there is speech therapy available, but you have to fall within certain income restraints to qualify for Pre-K. Are there any school out there private or public that offer what I am looking for?

Default You can still qualify for services

I work for the FBISD school district and your child may still qualify for services even if you do not meet the income qualifications for Pre-K. What you need to do is go to your zoned school and ask to speak with the Speech Language Pathologist or the Assistant Speech Language Pathologist. Let them know what your concerns are and you would like to set up a screening for your child. If the screening indicated further testing is needed, then of course further testing will be scheduled for another day. If your child meets eligibility criteria as a child with a Speech and Language Impairment then your child will receive services as a Pre-Schooler, but you will be responsible for bring your child to speech therapy during your scheduled days and time. I hope this helps you in some way.

Oh yeah please undestand that eligibility for speech services differ from that in a school setting. In home health the eligibilty criteria is more loose and in the school more tight and concrete. So don't be too upset if your child doesn't meet eligibility guideline. I understand that your child is getting services outside of the school. However, it is up to the Speech Path on that campus to except the testing and results from an outside Speech Path or to test and use her results and findings
