Red flags are substance abuse, can’t stop talking about their ex, wouldn’t give you their cellphone number and full name, disappearing after getting intimate, ghosting you altogether…..age isn’t one of them.

I met my husband when he was 39, in NYC, where there were plenty of single 39 yrs old with no baggage and with a decent career. We have been happily married for 14 yrs.

You’ll be surprised how many men and women who look like a “catch” in big cities yet they are single either by choice or not rushing into marriages, with no skeletons in the closet.

I don’t know OP, and I’m genuinely curious if your thought is more a Southern thing as I know people overall get married earlier in the South.

Good luck OP, dating anywhere is a pain. When the time is right the right person will come. Don’t rush into a relationship just so you won’t be single, 36 is still quite young so take your time to meet people with good quality.
Being an sometimes-immature 44 yr old married dad I only have sarcastic responses to threads like these because they’re pretty funny. They remind me of some of my dumbass friends who never got it and still don’t.

In response to your question it’s not really a southern thing- it’s more that we are not a big east or west coast city, where it is normal for women to act like promiscuous gay men. Look at Ohio or Maine or Wyoming where they get hitched earlier than here. Is that “southern”?

BTW - go ask a young man or woman if 36 is “young”. (LOL) Most people that age in this country are a MF wreck. I also know a few couples who waited to have kids until their 40s because of careers. Failed IVFs and Down syndrome abortions aside, everyone has their reasons… but let me just say being in your 60s raising a teen appears to age you twice as fast and is a horrible disservice to the kids IMO.

It’s no bashing here. Those kinds of women are fun when you’re young. But maybe not so much when you’re 36…

36 is young especially if you’re a man. Lots of peeps don’t have kids until they are older and established. Money, experience and perspective make parenting much easier.

I thought people with no kids were always better than someone with kids? Less baggage? Most marriages don’t even last 5 years these days right? What if they were financially independent with secure job?

We shouldn’t judge and assume anyone regardless of how old they are. Anyone can be single at any age. There are always reasons. Maybe they have other priorities in life.

Generally, 8, 9, 10 are. I am pretty fit so I would want someone the same.

After the last 2 years, a solid 401k/IRA is rare. LOL

Houston is a crazy city in which you need to drink to stomach the craziness, so sober people are harder to find. LOL
