Mine are solid brick unlike modern bricks come with 3 hollow holes which I suspect cracks more easily.
the holes are for holding them in place longer so they wont be falling off like those 'original primitive bricks'

It may be that way in MO, but the housing market is not, and has not really been effected at all in Houston. It is not awful, nor do I expect it to be anytime in the near future. If anything it is still underpriced.

The holes are there for structural strength and better uniformity during firing. All the brick manufacturers in the US do it this way. Mexican brick is another story...
