I keep reading all these stories about the housing market in Texas, specifically Houston and S.A. and how great it is and I think about all the money I'm throwing away in rent here in midtown and am wondering if I should buy in the Clear Lake/League City area.

I like where I am currently because it's in the middle of everything but I am wondering what it's like in the areas proposed above. Any young professionals or is it all families etc.? I work near Hobby so those are the only real viable suburbs along with maybe Pearland and Friendswood that aren't just ridiculous commutes. More than 30 minutes is a deal breaker for me. From near downtown my commute is about 15-25 minutes and that's plenty for me. Not a fan of traffic.

How are home values in that area? What about flooding? Any feedback and info. on specific neighborhoods is appreciated. Any areas appreciating more rapidly? Any going down? Definitely want it to be a safe area and now in the hood. What about condos in the area? I've done searches and it doesn't seem like there are too many- at least not like there are here in the inner loop.

Thanks
