We've been house hunting and came across this...fits all our criteria (except it's about 2000-3000 sq feet MORE than we were looking for):
1802 Country Club Dr, Crosby, TX 77532

So after looking at it...what's the deal? What's wrong with it? has to be something major and expensive. Anyone know the house or the area? Is it haunted? Was there a murder in it? Is it being munched on by termites? This just seems incomprehensible...

Maybe the fact that it's an old home? Maybe because of the location....Crosby?

That was my first guess.

Hmm... according to Wikipedia, there is a little something called The Black Hope Curse. Looks like it's the same subdivision as the house you're looking at. Spooky.

Since its being sold as is, I'd proceed with extreme caution. If you are interested in it, make sure to have the plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roof and foundation checked out extensively. Look for current and past leaks through the roof and foundations and walls to see if there is a mold issue. Remember to also look into the utility bills since they will be very high based on that square footage. Remember the old adage - if it sounds to good to be true........it usually is!

Yeah, part of Newport was built over the old black hope cemetary. HGTV even did a thing about a house being flipped there and there is also a book and movie based on this. Not all of the neighborhood is involved in this though and I do not believe. Nothing wrong with Crosby at all except you have to drive to get anywhere. That is changing quite a bit as development is moving into the NE side and Hwy 90 is being extended. Might be a pretty good investment if the inspections go ok.

I did a little snooping around the internet and the area that is build over the cemetery is "section 8" the houses are along a road called Poppin Way. Got to admit I'd be "spooked" away from the area

it's also a "short sale" so the owners are more than likely behind on their payments and need to sell.
