If you are not in mandatory evacuation zone and did not evacuate for Hurricane IKE, would you evacuate for a similar one (Cat 2 – 110 mph – Aiming at Galveston) in future ?

At work, many folks were saying they would.

Located in Katy here. I stayed in our home and the only thing I would do differently is probably board up the windows. I hope that everybody here came out unscathed from the storm.

I recently lived in Midtown, and probably would not have left since it was a 2. I figured we wouldnt get a storm surge, just trees taking out electricity. I didnt expect all the window damage downtown.

Spent 3 hours stuffed into a 7'x4' closet with 3 dogs hoping that the windows wouldn't break from all the stuff being thrown around. Then spend the next 36 hours sweltering in place and hoping that all the frozen food in the freezer wouldn't spoil. Yup for the next one, we will board up & go to a hotel. I hear San Antonio is very nice at this time of year

I will stay home but board up the windows. This time nothing broke but a couple of times through the night I had a major scare.

I would still follow instructions if the authorities were requesting that we shelter in place but next time I want a generator.

I'd stay, but be much more prepared. I just didn't take this storm as seriously as I should have.
