We will be relocating to Houston in early Feb. Our house is at Firethorne. There is a KRK at Cinco Ranch Blvd/Gaston Rd. They have a waiting list. There's another KRK scheduled to open in June, 2009. It's located at Fry Rd/Spring Green. I am not able to visit either facility, but I have to choose one to put on the waiting list. Which KRK, in your opinion, should I choose to go? Thanks!

My kids go to the one at Gaston Rd. I like it ok, but had an issue with the management over tuition once and if it weren't spitting distance from my house I'd seriously look at switching. My baby's teacher is awesome though. The 4 year old's teacher is just ok. I don't like how crowded and chaotic it is when the older before/after school or summer kids are there.

Didn't know about the new one at Fry and Spring Green, that's not far away. Maybe when it's open I'll look into it. But if you need a daycare in Feb when you move I'd sign up for the KRK on Gaston.

We are moving from NJ, I thought waiting list only exists here Both KRKs have waiting lists, that's why I can't decide. I will have to keep my 3yr old home till May or June, I guess.

Wow I'm surprised my KRK has a waiting list for your 3 yr old...mine got right in, but I had to wait a couple months to start my 12 month old... You will find that this part of Katy is CHOCK full of small kids and there are not enough daycares to keep up yet. There are several other options that don't have super high registration fees that you could try until one of the KRKs opens up. They would be more of a drive but worth it if you can keep working. Little Thinkers has drop in hours. So does Itty Bitty City. They are more per hour though than a regular daycare.

One tip about waiting lists: Inquire OFTEN about your position on the waiting list. I discovered that if you do that, they think you are more motivated than the other people on the waiting list and they will often move you up ahead of people who don't call them. And visiting in person to make inquiries might move you up past a LOT of other people. (You can guess how I know this!)
