Hubby & I are hoping to move to our Conroe home this summer. He is in the carpet/flooring business (sales manager) and I am in the auto sales business (finance manager)

How are these businesses faring in the Conroe / Spring / Woodlands area?? We are hoping for good job opportunities

Thanks!

A well known major auto dealership just went under and close their doors.

Sales in Houston similar to nation numbers has dropped significantly

I read somewhere, I believe Chron.com, that the dealer group that closed had other issues "invisible" to the public that made them close..they were either in receivership from their flooring lender, or receivership was immenent.

...apparently they had an unusually high turnover of management as well...

In any economy, these two issues are a recipe for failure, and the two combined practically guarantee it...

Maybe so but Landmark and Bill Heard are also major dealerships that have closed in the past year. There's no doubt that auto sales are way down.

I would consider this a good time to find another industry to work in.

Why does it have to be something that you have specifically done before? Think of the basic skills required to do those jobs and some of the other industries those skills might carry over to. Those jobs sound like they boil down to applications/forms processing and client administration. For instance, what about apartment leasing, office administration, or even debt collections? You might have to learn a few new things but you'll never broaden your experience by finding new jobs identical to your old jobs.
