Katy Freeway toll lanes may see $4 fee at peak times | Front page | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle
Dam, can I go anywhere without having to pay a fee. My wife and I are about to go see Erika Badu tonight at the Arena theater and I have to find a "freaking" free route from Katy, without having to use the West parking lot toll way. this is just insane, can someone please explain why we pay high property taxes again?

That is what I have been saying for a long time. The Katy tollway is a new way of our local government to screw us over. They are getting billions for EXACTLY what they did... building infrastructure.
They must think I am swimming in money.

How the hell is this going to help the other lanes if the toll lanes are 4 bucks during rush hour??

Reason enough to get rid of my EZ tag.. not going to support this crap.

traffic into town isn't that bad at night.
It's the traffic OUT that bad. But not as bad as it used to be.

Nobody is going inbound on Briar Forest or Memorial at night. 25 mintues to downtown from the Beltway.

I remember one of the news stations doing an undercover investigation on HCTRA and how they are blowing our money on all kinds of stuff ie; paying employees college tuition for majors that doesn't have anything to do with their current company(HCTRA) LOL, and I thought we're suppose to be paying off the bonds.

Gee, too bad they didn't just build rail instead. But that would be un-American, of course.

You do realize that the main lanes are free? You CAN choose to pay the $4 if you want to not sit in traffic otherwise you can drive for free on the 4-5 main lanes.

I really don't see why people are so against toll roads. We could just increase taxes on everyone or we can charge people to use a toll road.

I guess you did not notice that the government blows out money just for that purpose. So where is the point in paying that if the government throws money at them for building highways?? We could have a 7 lane freeway instead.

That will be 8 Dollars a day! If you use it.

If they continure doing this... in a few years we will have only toll freeways.

Bingo! People have been predicting this for the last 10 years. The more people listen to Algore and this b.s. about global warming, the more pressure people will feel by the government to quit using their cars.

It will happen.

Huh? It cost money to upgrade infrastructure when you live in a city like Houston. How do you suggest we pay for these upgrades?

Even if we built all rail, you would still have to pay to use it. How is this different than a toll road?
