A furnished apt may cost you in the area of $2000/month in midtown. If you are working in Baytown it will be much less. Agree that the HR dept should be able to provide you some ideas for affordable housing. Other than that 1k/month should be enough.

and to Alex, mmm... I wasn't filled up with every detail yet, all I know at the moment is that i'll be doing an internship for ExxonMobil. Am also not quite sure of the location, all i know it's in houston so far.

And no havnt decided on the area that'll be renting in.
Am sorry for having such little information.

I would like some suggestions about good apartments that are furnished and are Cable TV ready / has high-speed internet.

to confirm, so 2500-3500$ excluding rent is enough for 3 months.. am i correct?

LOL, thanks for the update. I didn't know you meant 2500-3500 excluding rent. With that said have fun blowing the money on fun in the sun.

Exxon has locations all over Houston. So, it'd be a good idea to find out where you are going to be. For instance if you end up at the Exxon refinery in Baytwon, you will absolutely need a car beacuse there is basically zero public transport and VERY limited taxi service in Baytown. if you were in Downtown, or out on the Westside, then your options change.

The Houston area is quite affordable for a major city. What to plan for just depneds on where you are at.

It will be hard to get around without a car. If you are at ExxonMobil downtown - my suggestion would be to get an apt. in Midtown - perhaps Camden at midtown and then you can walk to work. However if you are interning at the ExxonMobil refinery located in Baytown - then you will need transportation because you'll have to live somewhere outside of Baytown if you want to live in a decent area -- A friend's kid interned there and he lived in Seabrook and commuted. They have a location at Greenspoint - again a bad area to live - so you'd want to have transportation and live in a bit safer area.
