I have met Venezuelans in The Woodlands and Sugarland , and have been told many live in Katy . There are quite a few Colombians as well , but probably more Venezuelans . Neither community has comparable sizes to South Florida where they range in the several thousands each , but that should not be a reason for not moving to Houston and surrounding areas . South Florida is great for partying and vacation but Houston will offer more culture and quality of life .
Not after Miami and New York. Only after Miami. Houston has more Venezuelans than NYC. It goes Miami>Houston>NYC

I read somewhere that the biggest venezuelan communities are in 1. Miami 2. Orlando 3. Houston

Anybody interested in finding out about the venezuelan community, should visit one of the many restaurants in town.
My favorite one is Sazon Latino in Spring, but I was a little dissapointed with their itty bitty empanadas.

They're pretty much sprinkled all over: Katy, Sugar Land, Energy Coridor.

There are more Venezuelans here than you might expect. My wife is from Maracaibo/Cabimas. I am from Louisiana but lived in Maracaibo and PLC up until the "Paro".

Katy has the largest concentration by far. Just in my section of our neighborhood with about 20-30 houses, I know of at least 5-6 that are Venezelanos. Katy is called "Katyzuela" within the Venezuelan community.

As was stated earlier there is a strong connection with the Petroleum community since Venezuela was a common destination for anyone working abroad.

My wife is a family practice physician, PM me and I can pass along her name if you are interested.

Suerte

Actually, Sabor Venezolano on Westheimer is pretty freakin good. Especially their arepas. There's actually a lot of Venezuelan places in Houston. At the top of my head Sabor Venezolano, Sazon Latino, Budare Arepa Express, Tuttopane Cafe, Deli's Cafe, Gusto Gourmet, and the Churro Mania is a Venezuelan snack place.

And when you go to these places you see plenty of Venezuelan faces. Then you got the newspaper specifically marketed to Houstonzuelans called "El Venezolano". Then Houston is one of the only 3 cities with direct flights to Venezuela. And I've seen Venezuelan acts such as Oscar D'Leon perform in the arena theatre and 90% of the audience is Venezuelan. When you look at the figure, it's actually impressive how big the community is. It's overshadowed due to the fact that Houston has a large community of just about every culture in the world, and Venezuela is one of the smaller ones.

Parkway Villages area has a sizeable Venezuelan population. Many work at Citgo and other energy companies in the area.

Now for what the original post was about, the biggest Venezuelan community is in Katy. Hence the nickname "Katyzuela". Then Spring also has a large community. And throughout the Southwest side of Houston you'll catch some. Sharpstown for example.
