$300 per week for full time care is on the high side... but certainly not abnormal for that age. You could find something for around $250/wk, but if you like that center/teachers and can afford it, then go for it.

my neice went there for about 2 weeks, she was 2 1/2 or 3 yrs old. my guess is she would have stayed longer but she does not speak any english and they offer no spanish speaking teachers. my sister in law was not impressed with CDLC, it seamed more like a place for "wealthy people to dump their kids for a few hours" . (her words not mine). my son went to "the childrens courtyard" at $198 week, and we where VERY pleased. he came into kinder with a HUGE advantage over most of the other kids who went to public preschool.

almost $300 a week, I think is a little on the high side. But what do I know? I do have a couple of grandkids in child care, not in Dallas and a great one in OKC>

My daughter attends a MDO program at one of the church schools I listed on the other thread about "how do you know a good babysitter" (or title of thread close to that). I looked on the tuition sheet and they charge a little less than $900/mo for your childs age for full time care - 7am-6pm. No $2 a day diaper fee like CDLC either. I always thought that was odd. I would trust any of those church schools listed...problem is getting a spot. Spots can be hard to come by because the schools are good.

Creme de le Creme is wonderful in my hometown, but I don't know about here in Houston. I don't think that their academics are great in the Pre-K and K classes, but it is an excellent place for infants and toddlers. The facility with which I am familiar had an excellent child to staff ratio, and the infants and toddlers were in the same large area that was divided into three stations. I like the fact that there were 6 adults in one area, with 5 others in the same room who is going to mistreat a child?

The facilities are nice, bright and spacious. If you can afford, or have to stretch your budget to afford the center, go where you feel comfortable. Don't put a price on safety and well being.

$1200 a month for daycare??? Holy Moly...sure glad my boys are grown..when my little guy was 2 (1983) I paid $175 a month (in California!!) and thought I was being fleeced...now I know of course inflation has been running it's up and down course...but to put things in perspective...my rent those days was $450.00 (yep, I have a mind like a steel trap..and records to fill in the gaps..) which, at the same rate of inflation, would equal $3085.71 for housing....Our mortgage (in a very nice area) all in with taxes & insurance today is $2061.00..so the math doesn't crank out...

How does the wages vs expenses make it financially worth it for a mommy to work?? She would have to have a really kick a** job for that to begin to make sense IMHO....

I am sure I must be missing *something*...fill me in please..

Doesn't always make financial sense on a minute-to-minute basis, but if she doesn't work until the kids are in kindergarten, it can be hard to get back into the work force, and over the length of a career you lose money by stopping work. Depends on the career, I guess.
