I am moving my family to Houston in July. I am really struggling on which area to move. I need help on which area has the best schools. We are going to rent when we move until we know for sure where we want to be. I am going crazy researching Houston all day!! My husband will be working all over the city so commuting isn't a huge issue. We have a middle school child and 2 elementary kids. I could really use some help!! Thanks!!

Spring Branch ISD. The Best elem schools are Frostwood, Wilchester, Rummel Creek, Hunters Creek, Bunker Hill & Memorial Drive Elem. The Best SBISD middle school is Memorial Middle. Best high is Memorial Sr with Stratford in second place. Homes here are pretty pricey though.....

I disagree with Spring Branch. It's a great district if you have money. If you are middle class or lower, it's not that good of a school district. Houston school districts generally have good and bad schools within their boundaries. It's better to go by actual school as opposed to district.

The OP asked for the best schools, Spring Branch has them. No $ was mentioned for his/her house hunt.

Katy, Fort Bend ISD, HISD, Cy-Fair, Klein and even Alief all have schools that are just as good as Spring Branch. If you want to go district alone, Katy is tops in Houston.

Yes, tons of Alief schools are just as good as the memorial area SBISD schools I posted. Right. But to be clear, could you name a few?

I wouldnt send any of my children to Alief. I taught there and although their scores are good on paper there are many more issues in the district. Ft. Bend same thing...school by school. You cannot just go by district, even in Katy.

The Bellaire section of HISD also has good schools...Horn Elem, Pershing Middle, Bellaire High.

Kerr High school is better than all the SBISD high schools. Chancellor, Rees and Liestman elemntary schools are as good as any SBISD elementary. Miller Intermediate is outstanding. The middle schools are a wreck. Obviously, that's a big issue.
