Lol, I was hoping I could. I guess coming from NYC I figured I would get into a "cheap" apartment. I suppose I could swing $700 mthly, but I would prefer less than that. Thanks

I suspect you will get as many answers to the best place to live as there are people here. How can anyone answer that really. The best advice is to rent an extended stay hotel and explore on your free time.

If you work downtown I would look for a garage apartment near Rice/Montrose/ inner loop. Better commute,younger people and better rent.

$700 minimum for any decent apartment in either the West Memorial or Sugar Land area. That would most likely be a studio. That wont include electricity, water, or cable in most cases. Obviously, they have some crappy apartments in both areas that you could possibly get into: along Briar forest on the west side and probably near the Stafford/Sugar Land border.

A rule of thumb is a minimum of $650 for a decent one-bedroom in the 'burbs and $750 for anything inside the Beltway.

I always wanted to live here and I am kissing New York City goodbye. I think through extensive research that I will be going to Houston. My question is: what is the best city to move into. I hear wonderful things about the west side and I believe that is the move for me. I am thinking WestChase, or Sugerland. My question is what area is closest to the action (ie: nightlife) and work but still far enough to be considered suburbs? I am looking to rent at no more than $600 monthly. Is sugarland the best place for me? Can I find a good apartment on this budget? Another question is will it be hard for me to find a good job? Currently I am making appr. 35k and I do not want to take a paycut. I work as a secretary. Any advice you can offer will be appreciated.
