It is a day late... but in my opinion Adobe Cafe and Los Gallitos on Highway have the best Tex Mex cuisine in the area. The entrees, as well as the tortillas, chips, margaritas and atmosphere are all fantastic. They both have a shaded outdoor patio on the lake that makes a nice place to enjoy a good margarita. Los Gallitos is more child oriented because they have an enclosed play area for the little ones.

To us it tasted like Filipino beef steak with onions (which is maybe why our parents liked it). Overall a good experience since it was my dad's request & he was happy with the meal.

Thanks for all your recs...we will try Lopez next time!
That's funny because I love the marinade but I hate the beef. I've wondered if I could buy that marinade and put it on something else, like onions and green peppers for vegetable fajitas.

Since it tasted so much like Filipino beef steak/bistek I can tell you what we do: a mixture of minced garlic, soy sauce, fresh kalamansi juice (or lime juice), salt & pepper. Some people add a little sugar to taste. Mix it together & take a taste & adjust accordingly before marinating your veggies.

I do not like Lupe Tortilla - all those little kids running around the sand box - noisy, hot, expensive.

My vote is for LOS TIOS - intersection of 6 and Williams Trace. THE BEST. Fajitas Presidente!

Los Tios used to be a great local place, that is until the Skeeters chain bought it out. Once that happened it went downhill from there enough that I'll probably never go back. Very sad.

I love to go to Lupes when it is raining - sandbox is closed and place is quiet and empty.

I still think the best fajitas I have had in Houston came from La Cocina in Richmond - I think near Pecan Grove. Absolutely great.
