Sugar Land to Cleveland?? Not in your preferred commute range of 40 minutes. Google Maps says 1 hour 9 minutes in non-rush hour; 1 hour 40 minutes in rush.

I would rather stick pins in my eyes than spend that much time driving on 59...but that's me.

The posters who have directed you to Kingwood/Humble are giving you your best options, if you are going to work in Cleveland.

You do not want to live in Sugarland, that is a long way from Cleveland.

In addition you might look into Atascocita as well. It is a nice area and while not diverse, there is more diversity than in Kingwood.

Default Thanks...

Looks like that job may not work out afterall. Thanks so much for your replies guys!

By the way Cheese, working at night would have been great, since working at night would have alleviated the daytime traffic problems.

Have you looked into the Conroe/Woodlands/Shenandoah area? You could cross-commute Montgomery County via SH 105 out of Conroe and be in Cleveland in about 45 minutes. Otherwise, I'd agree that Kingwood/Atascocita are are your better options, with Humble being next.

Sugar Land is too far...Kingwood is your best bet. I lived in Kingwood when I worked in Cleavleand for a year. easy reverse commute. Nice area. Every major Houston burb is some what diverse IMO. Kingwood is probably more diverse than say Tomball but less than Sugar Land.
... you may also like Atascocita in the Humble area.

Default Thanks....

That job just may not pan out now, so we may be freer with our choices now.

I have heard that Humble has alot of crime, especially around the Fall Creek area? Is that true?

So out of all of the suggestions that you gave(thanks so much by the way),

which one is far enough away from Houston/the nicest area? ( Sugarland, Humble, Atascocita, or Kingwood?)

Is Atascocita pretty diverse?
Low crime?
Will I be able to find other minority families with young children or just a small handful basically?

Same questions for Kingwood and Sugarland?

It won't be a problem finding other moms that are non-minorities obviously. I am also hoping that wherever we go, we can stay out of Houston as much as poss. ie: for grocery shopping etc. I have heard that Houston has a lot of crime.

Thanks guys. This is a potential big move for us, so I have lots of ques.

Default Forgot to ask....

Not only do we want safety-#1, and diversity, we also want an area that has plenty of nice parks, sports/recreation for us and the kids like YMCA, etc.
