Went to Big 6 Bar B Que on Highway 6 near Beechnut today...they only take CASH even though their website says they take credit cards. By 1:50pm, the wait was about over 1 hour to get your food. And they ran out of ribs. Parking was bad..I will try again...hopefully during the week instead of a weekend.

The Swinging Door is the most OVERRATED BBQ joint in the history of Houston.

I went on Saturday and Big 6 was packed - cars parked at neighboring bank and on highway6. The line was too long.
I went again today Sunday. They opened at 11am and I got there by 11:30am. No lines, good. I was the 4th to have placed an order for take out. Everyone I spoke with were all there because of the news. I do not think anyone will ba back to get BBQ from this place. The service was slow, I got my order 30mins after placing my order and I ordered what was ready (the chicken wasn't ready). I can't judge the BBQ, I'm not an expert. The ribs I got are thin and the burnt parts kinda ruined everything for me. The brisket looked ok but its missing the sauce. Everything smells like kerosene, even the (good) sweetcorn. I do like their potato salad.

My favorite BBQ joint is Burns BBQ in Acres Homes. Prices: sandwiches $2.75-$4; plates $7.50-$8.50; desserts $1.25. Only my Acres Homes folk know where it is as it's not easy to find. Another one I like is Williams Smokehouse.

Actually, I like Midway out in old Katy. I don 't really go for trendy or chain when I go for BBQ. Hole in the wall is the best.

RUdy's used to be hole in the wall before it chained out. The one in Spring is a salty, dried out mess. And I'm a little bored with Goode Company.

I disagree. I've been to many BBQ places all over Houston and have yet to find one that comes close to The Swinging Door. If you put The Swinging Door next to Goode's on Kirby, Goode's would go bust. You'd be surprised how many people prefer their BBQ to not taste store bought. All Houston area BBQ is inferior to Carolina and KC BBQ anyways.
