Hi all, I'm new here and I need some advice.
We need a bigger house and we're currently considering : Lakes of Gleannloch farms, Treeline or Lakewood Grove b/c of the school districts.
The lakes @ GF we think are overpriced (newmark homes). Treeline is a new community so I don't know what it'll be like in a few years. My husband and I disagree on one issue: He wants to build in Treeline (average price of 85.00dollars/sq foot) ; I would rather consider a 2004/5 home around Lakewood Grove @ about 53.98dollars/sq ft.(its a short sale or foreclosure). The latter of course is older and not as nice as the brand new Treeline home would be (hopefully) after construction. My argument is that we could get the better deal now and maybe move in a few years ( the kids are 7 and 4 now) but my husband argues that if we bought in Treeline, we could live there until the kids graduate HS. And that the good deals around now may not be there in a few years
I would really appreciate any advice from people who know these 2 areas. We currently live in the Ponderosa area (1960)
Thanks

I would pick Lakewood Grove over Treeline mostly because LG is zoned to Lakewood Elementary. I personally think it's a better elementary than Willowcreek HOWEVER both are good. Both areas attend Northpointe Intermediate (5th and 6th grade) and Willow Wood Jr High (7th and 8th) and will be zoned to Tomball's new high school, Tomball Memorial currently under construction. I personally would rather live in a neighborhood that's built out so you know what you're getting. Treeline does look nice but it's still in the early stages. I know many families that live in LG and really love it. Lots of kids to play with and the neighbors that socialize.

However you seem to be saying that a house in LG would be a short term solution for you then you'd move again. That would be expensive for you and disruptive to the kids. You should move to the house that you'd live in the longest and if that's Treeline then that's what's best for you.

Both are nice neighborhoods. I like both. From what I've seen, Treeline will have more higher-end options than Lakewood Grove. I would go with the long-term solution so you don't have to worry about moving again anytime soon. I also think its a plus that its not located directly off a freeway. The HP Corridor area is a great area of town with Exemplary schools throughout from TISD to CFISD. It's pretty much built out there and the schools are solid. You can't really go wrong. Longwood and Lakewood Glen are also great choices nearby that feed into Exemplary Hamilton Elementary, Exemplary Hamilton Middle and Recognized Cy-Fair HS.

Default RE: Treeline and Lakewood Grove

Thanks Mr. Football and Citizen Jane. I'd been reading this forum and both of you were some of the individuals I was hoping would respond. I love good deals and my main attraction to Lakewood grove (in addition to Lakewood elementary) was that it is a good deal (foreclosure) but I didn't really like the house. I think we may go with Treeline, my husband is not even considering the Lakewood house and even refuses to go see it.
BTW: this is my newest online addiction.

Treeline is beautiful. Tomball ISD has great schools with low student/teacher ratios.
All of the schools near Northpointe BLVD are good.
