The area is nice. Any of the neighborhoods in the Copperfield area (the area you are already looking in) are good. They are very family oreinted and have plenty of neighborhood activities. The schools are very good. I don't know anything about the home builders, but if you want to design and build your own then I would research the home builders that are in the neighborhood and then see if you can't bring in your own if you don't like the ones that are supplied.

I really like Trendmaker, but I'm also impressed with what Partners in Building can do. We visited one of their offices, and they told us that we can choose one of their floor plans, and then make changes to it. The first floor was most important, where they can make some changes, and then on the second floor, they can make it most anything you want. Sure, you pay more to be able to customize like that, but I didn't find their home prices to be anywhere near what you would pay for a custom home. The other big bonus was that they had a lot of nice standards built into the price. The quality looked great. However, we haven't bought a home from them, so I can only provide the information I received from one office visit. Good Luck!
