What I can't figure out is why none of these channels seem to feature English subtitles.

I don't watch movies with subtitles. If I wanted to read a movie, I'd buy the book.

Movies and books are completely different animals. Covering just the first book of the Lord of the Rings trilogy would have involved 10 hours of reading. At the theater, it was a 3 hour experience. There's also the matter of production values (zero in the case of the book). Besides, a lot of the foreign language programming probably doesn't exist in book form, especially things like Sábado Gigante.

Yes!!! I would love this opportunity!
I watch foreign movies in movie theaters, and foreign movies on TV on channels where they show such. It made me very sad when the termination of lease suddenly shut Angelica film center. I was a regular there. Can't wait to see it re-opened again.
The subtitles do not bother me, but I am even more delighted when I catch a movie in a foreign language I understand.

I speak 4 languages and all channels I have don't need English subtitle. But yes, I would watch them. Actually I grew up watching American movies with subtitle in my own language. Is not bad actually....

Yes they do. The Bollywood movies have them.

I did once watch a Mexican soap with subtitles. I can't remember which channel. It wasn't one of the trashy ones. It was actually pretty good.
