I got a couple envelopes from the census. I guess I'll have a few beers and fill it out. I'm guessing as soon as I check 'middle age' and 'white' 'male', I will be directed to the last question.

How dare you state the obvious here

Did this census thing already, takes a couple of minutes.

IIRC shorter than the one that was given out 10 years ago.

I'm also wondering where all the complainers were 10 years ago...

You didn't know that Obama created the Census by himself as part of his stimulus package?

I get a kick out of all the hype about the census form. I got it, it was simple, it's already off in the mail. No offensive questioning to my mind.
A tremendous waste of paper and printing, though. I got an advance postcard, additional advance letter, AND a post-receipt letter.

No big conspiracy here, counting people is just a necessary part of running government. I think they could have done it a lot more cheaply, though.

^^THIS. Also, I received my Census form within a week of receiving my notice. It took me all of 5 minutes to fill it out and I sent it back on its way as a postage stamp was not required to send it back.

It was a LOT shorter than the 2000 Census to boot.

I know a lot of this is a part of the hysteria and toxic political climate right now.

I'm curious ... when did everyone receive their Census forms? We received ours several months ago, which was then followed up with a phone call from a Census taker. I ignored the phone call and put the form aside for filling out "later"; however, I'm now reading that forms are just being mailed out this month. Scam?

while he did not create the census, he did take control of the census as one of his 1st "moves" as president. the census has never been run by a presidential admin until now, why do you think that is? why do you think he might want to have control of the way representative districts are formed?

and we received our "pre-letter letter" about 3 weeks ago and got our forms last week.

Rigas, could you PLEASE stop dumping on us the misinformation you get from whatever message board full of angry conservatives you frequent? The U.S. Census operates now, as it always has, under the Department of Commerce.
