Freeport is farther south in latitude vs Galveston, as well as Surfside.

That's as much east as south from Pearland and Alvin. Alvin is virtually due west of TC, but there isn't really a straight east-west road between the two.

Directly south of Alvin there isn't much. It's 20-25 miles down Highway 35 from the southern edge of Alvin to get to Angleton and then the Brazosport area (Lake Jackson, Clute, Freeport etc.). To call it a continuous urbanized area is a bit of a stretch, and I don't see it building up much in the short term.

There's also a little town called Danbury which is sort of between Alvin and Angleton, but it sits off on its own in the rural expanse of central Brazoria County. You can very easily miss the turn off 35 that goes into town without even noticing.
