FYI Brinks/Broadview is being sucked in by ADT.

ADT will probably have an "auto 1 year renewal" clause in the fine print if you don't cancel XX days prior to contract finish date.

The real question is whether ADT will continue on with Broadview's "only scary white guys break into your house" commercials.

Another option for The Woodlands is the cable company. It isn't as costly as ADT.

Just called ADT to cancel as the cost is more than insurance savings. ADT lowered our price to 19.95 a month. I was stunned. I inquired if they could lower it yesterday, why didn't they tell me years ago. She said you have to call and ask. Give it a try.

I've never seen the insurance savings outweigh the cost of monitoring. Over the past 5 years the savings have gradually dwindled to basically nothing for me. If I have a noisemaker w/ no monitoring, it saves me the same as if I had monitoring.

Dumb me just figured that out. About 10 years ago the yardman triggered the alarm. Took HCSO 5 hours to come. What's the point?

Why didn't they tell you? Because you were more than willing to pay the higher rate. ?you don't actually think they're in business to automatically give you the lowest price, do you? LOL

You are what you negotiate.

With the new house I went with Smith Thompson with the wireless transmitter. Like others have mentioned, there's no need to pay $35+ per month for monitored alarm service.

Good advice, another tip with ADT is to make sure that the contract you have is the same as the one they have ie that the person who sold you the services actually filed the same thing you signed in their records.
Otherwise you might end up spending 2 hours a day for weeks on end talking to people who ignore you, pass the buck and call you a liar before capitulating when you send them a copy of the original contract by courier requiring a signature after they ignored several letters you sent them by conventional mail. Of course at that point you might find that you didn't 'give them enough notice' and have to pay a penalty for a house you don't even live in anymore..........and R-E-L-A-X.

Don't forget you get what you pay for. And a smoke alarm only works if you're at home.

Home alarm monitoring can be done by security services providing company, I do not use any system for that as it is quite risky if this system fails.
