Well..... I must say they sure are doing the widening very quickly.... I wonder if they get a big bonus for finishing it quickly....... Gotta say I'm glad to see the speed with which they are tackling the project....

Yep, very quick.

My question is, where are they going to build the road from Jeff road south?

What about all those businesses in the way, are they going around them to the West?

Should be to Jeff road. I have some customers on both sides of the road that have been paid for their part already, but if you notice the nursery has moved thier fence back already so i am sure as it gets to the end it is going that way.

Really, I'll check the nursery tomorrow....

Even then, those buildings to the west side of R&R liquors....if you think about a road in front of those buildings...that would be at the front door....

Anyway......it will be interesting....

Just adding my 2 cents worth....The part they are paving now will be the new southbound lanes. Once it is completed up to Jeff road, they will reroute all traffic(north and south) to the new asphalt. Then they will demolish the current old Hwy 53 roadbed and rebuild it for Northbound traffic. Once it is complete, there will be 2 lanes northbound and 2 lanes southbound, separated by a median with drainage and occasional turning lanes. Huge improvement over what we have now!!!

I agree, but if you take those new lanes they just paved and go North, they go right thru current businesses....if not, the businesses new front door will be the new HWY..

I mean, look at Larry's and Doug's...it's for sale....

I've always wondered how they're going to widened the road in that tight little area.

I think McDonalds and Hardees put Doug and Harry's out of business.

I wonder how boring Alabama must be when the most exciting topic is the opening of a new Hardees! Since I have never eaten in one I imagine it's a fast food place?
