My son and I just did it this afternoon after work.

I'm on the Scale Back Alabama program at work, and for the first three weeks, it's been more like "Scale Up Program, but I digress. In any event, he went on the longer Rainbow Mountain/Spring trail, while I did the shorter Wild Trail, meeting up with it's intersection with the Spring Trail.

A nice short hike, took maybe 30 minutes max, very nice hike, I highly recommend it.

Also, there will be wildflower hikes too led by someone with the Land Trust I believe. I particularly like the Buckeye in spring along Rainbow Trail.

Default hikes

Go to www.landtrust-hsv.org We are so blessed here to have this wonderful group that are saving our wild areas and setting it aside for us. They have great hikes lead by a volunteer. We have done many. We love the Blevins Gap trails and Monte Sano to name a few. Also, a little bit of a drive but the Nature Trail on Green Mountain (Huntsville) is really a nice area to enjoy.

Went and did the Rainbow Mtn, trail again today. My son and our dog Molly did the Ja Moo Koo trail in addition. Took just over an hour. Very good exercise, even for my well used knees!

Beware, the last time I tried to do the Green Mtn. Nature trail, they wouldn't let dogs on it. I haven't been back in about 12 years, so it might have changed since then.

Good luck.

FTG it has changed. Dogs are allowed if on a leash. There were plenty on the trails there with their owners a week ago!

Good. It sucked driving all the way then being told that Kodiak was persona no grata; didn't want anyone else going through that.
