Howdy all -- since the last thread I found on this subject was from 2008, I wanted to ask for an updated perspective. My family and I will be relocating to the Huntsville area later this year. Even though the public schools in the area, particularly Madison, are highly rated, my wife and I would just prefer to put our kids in Catholic schools for various reasons (our 2 kids are still < 3 yrs old). So, does anyone have personal experiences (good or bad) at any of the area Catholic schools (St. John the Baptist, Holy Family, or Holy Spirit)? I have already googled for reviews and read comments on various sites, which are limited. I am asking now, even though are kids are not school-aged, because we would like to find a house in the general vicinity of whichever school we wanted our kids to go to.

Thanks in advance!

Hey Maximus23,

All three are pretty good, but I think Holy Spirit is probably the #1 pick right now.

There's also St. Bernard in Cullman, which is a boarding school for older kids. Highly rated.

I'm not personally familiar with them but I had a few friends who sent their kids to Holy Spirit and seemed quite happy with it.

I have had three students that transferred from Holy Spirit into the public school where I teach. All three transfers into public school were primarily due to family financial changes. In each case I was pleased to see how advanced the students were compared to our students. This is not always the case, as we often get students who have been homeschooled or "private" schooled who are behind their current grade level and socially.

We moved here over 5 years ago and went with St. John's. We've had a great experience and have met many great friends through St. John's. We're very happy with the education our kids are receiving. There is very little turnover with teachers and our principal has been there for quite a long time. If JP2 high school is a possibility in your future, living in the Madison area may also make that commute a bit easier in the future. Good luck with your move!
