Where would I look to find this info (hopefully presented in a subjective way, and without exclamation points, etc.)

From The Huntsville Times:

Quote:
Another scathing review of Democratic congressional candidate Parker Griffith's medical career has surfaced, this one saying he provided substandard care to 44 out of 107 cancer patients whose charts were scrutinized 20 years ago.

Another 60 cases were marked by sloppy record keeping, according to Confidential Peer Review of Kenosha, Wis., a company hired by Huntsville Hospital in late 1988 to determine the quality of Griffith's work. CPR hired two radiation oncologists then based in Savannah, Ga., to review the charts chronologically selected between 1984 and 1988.

"Due to the fact that this report documents substandard care, we recommend that Huntsville Hospital strongly consider instituting those steps which would lead to the termination of appointment to the medical staff for Dr. Griffith and the revocation of his clinical privileges," the doctors wrote in the 160-page report that was completed on Dec. 21, 1988.

A separate agreement one month later, signed by Griffith and then-Huntsville Hospital CEO Ed Boston, stated that while the hospital board of directors recommended Griffith's privileges be revoked, it would allow the oncologist to resign as long as he withdrew his request for a hearing before the board, would not reapply for appointment and would not appeal the dismissal of his antitrust suit or file a new suit. (Griffith sued Huntsville Hospital in 1988 alleging the hospital tried to run his private cancer treatment facility out of business.)

Griffith also agreed to not impugn the reputation of the hospital or its employees.

In return, the hospital agreed to hold Griffith harmless from any liability arising from the investigation of his practice at Huntsville Hospital.

With all this against Griffith, it sounds like he would make a great politician.

Well, Griffith did get elected to the State Senate (D) and Congress (D), and is now the Democratic Party's candidate for Governor.

Note that he has never won a GOP primary (Griffith switched parties when he was in Congress then was defeated in the GOP primary).

So, is he an actual democrat, as in ideology?

Yes, he's a Democrat (as evidenced by his ethics). However, he is a fairly astute politician and realized that the AL-5 Congressional District was turning GOP, so he switched parties to keep his seat in Congress. It didn't work.
