Hi,

I may move to Huntsville by myself for work from CA. I have been there for a week and know it's a very green place, and it's a heaven for engineers in aerospace and defense industry. My biggest worry is not able to find friends in my age(30) group easily. More than 80 percent of people i saw in town were about 40 years or older, few young people I saw seem still in school. Also, I am still looking to date and find a life partner, seems going to be very hard in town?

I also have been reading online about the area growing with more young people moving in, is it true? Or would you suggest me not move to the area.

Thank you

You can join Huntsville Young Professionals to meet friends, and there are other organizations, too, based on religion, interest, etc.

Definitely it's more of a family town than a singles scene, but if you are looking for stability and a life partner I don't think you'll have trouble. It's those who want a wild and carefree singles scene that I think find Huntsville a little lacking.

Don't get caught up in that thinking. I live in Denver CO which is supposed to be the singles capital of the US....and it is....and I have never met so many unhappy confused singles! To many choices.....every one wants a shiny new penny. You will find love wherever you go, just be open, and look in the right places.

Find a good church, and become the person you'd want to meet if you were the opposite sex.

You will be in a "target-rich" environment for husband-hunting.

There are many advantages to marry an Engineer...

1). They are not know for extra-marital affairs. Their idea of cheating is lying to you so they can squeeze in an extra few hours in the office/ laboratory.

2). They are usually handy fixing things around the house. You'll save a few bucks calling plumbers & save yourself from seeing a few butt-cracks.

3). They have a strong ego therefore can be easily manipulated. If he does not want to do something just look at him sympathetically and say "that's OK, I'll ask Joe next door. He's SMART", then step aside and watch him spring up from the couch & get to work!!

4). You will have intelligent children, well-behaved & hopefully inherit their good look from YOUR side. Best of all, your children will start earning a salary before having babies so you don't need to worry about raising grandchildren.

There are also many advantages marrying an older man, better yet, an older engineer (or a retired military man), but that's another post ...
