I noticed a month or so ago that the Royal Rose next to Costco looked closed. Drove by a few nights ago and most of the windows have been smashed out.

We only went a couple of times - we liked the City Cafe Diner better, though the Rose was closer.

Sad to see it smashed up.

Hopefully Full Moon sticks to that location. Seems like there's a new restaurant there every 2 or 3 years.

It's kind of a crummy part of town.

That side of town just doesn't seem ideal for sit-down restaurants. I'm thinking maybe raze the existing building and put up a fast food franchise with a drive-through.

Not sure the location was the issue with Royal Rose. They had the biggest menu I have ever seen. Instead of concentrating on fewer things done well, they had a lot of things that were mediocre. My wife and I gave it more than one chance (since everyone can have an off day or two), trying different things each time, but we both agreed that it just wasn't very good on anything we tried (and at least once, really bad).

By that logic, the Costco would have relocated by now, right?

I wish they would, but Costco is kind of a different animal. It's a shopping warehouse, and it's the only one within hundreds of miles. If you want to go to a Costco, it's your only option.

But there is no denying that that end of town is kind of crummy. It's just a couple of blocks from the projects.

So how did The End Zone last so long in the same area? It's the demand. Royal Rose was simply not good food.
