I have always been surprised that Huntsville and Decatur are separate metropolitan areas (I know it's based on commuting patterns, etc.), and it kind of seems inevitable to me that eventually they are going to blend together?? Huntsville may not like that since Decatur doesn't appear on these lists and would presumably drag a combined metro down to some degree.

It might bring the statistics down some but in reality Huntsville-Madison-Decatur should be one metro. It's possible that might happen in the next redefinition, which I think will be next spring.
