I stumbled across a post online of people reminiscing about Western Sizzlin and someone wrote that the one in Jasper, TN is very good.

A couple years ago we ate at a the one in Scottsboro. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing and didn't live up to my memories from the 80's. I believe that location has since closed.

The Western Sizzlin website shows 4 others locations are still in NE Alabama, and I wonder if any of those are good?

There are 4 and they all get 4.0 out of 5 stars. It’s a buffet. Where we going here? You’re driving across state lines for a buffet?

Sorta unrelated but neat…

I was driving by UAH a couple weeks ago on Wynn drive and my wandering eye spotted an old Sizzler sign. Still there and easy to make out the letters. I was like damn, I haven’t seen a Sizzler in 15-20 years.

Still haven’t cause the signs there but the building is demolished.

It's not just a buffet, it's a Western Sizzlin buffet.

I was looking for more than google reviews also.

I spotted that just after the Wintzell's Oyster House sign was removed that had covered it for years.

Sizzler actually filed suit against Western Sizzlin over their name in the late 60's and early 80's.

IF you’re driving to NE Alabama and IF a buffet is what you’re seeking, then best to try Mildred’s. They have the sizzling buffet with better flavor.

Western Sizzlin is a Family Steakhouse with an all you can eat buffet.

I would be going for their Steak, potato, and salad bar.

They also go by the name Quincy's Family Steakhouse in some locations.

There were other similar steak restaurants named Sizzler, Ryan's, Bonanza, Ponderosa, Mr. Steak, Steak and Ale, and more. Most of which are extinct now.

While I agree that Mildred's is a good buffet restaurant, it is not known as a Steakhouse.

Agreed, Mildred's is good. We took a softball team there and they went to town on it for my first experience. They/Mildred's had us all sit together in one of their side rooms.

You don't know how much I miss those. I think Quincy's and Ryans were very good for a steak house the average Joe could afford to take the family too (yes, I know there were steak houses there were a lot better, but none that I could afford to take a family out to). Western Steer was to me one of the best.

These places all started as family steakhouses and the buffet came later.
