My dad's in the defense industry, and I know that the president for sure affects his job.

That being said: if your job is in a field that doesn't have a nice ratio of demand to supply, well then them's the breaks. Are you expecting the American taxpayers to fund more defense industry that we don't realistically even need, just so you can live comfortably? That is a very socialist attitude I hope you know.

I work in the film industry, and my field is touch and go. I never take my job for granted and if the film industry takes a crap due to something the federal government did, so be it. I'll move on to the next thing in life.

Curent NOVA resident and future HSV area resident if all goes well, and here's what I think.

Inside the beltway, where I've lived off and on for several years, to include most of Clinton's two terms and most of Bush's two terms, I get this vibe that things get set in motion and start rolling well before we see them happen and continue long after we think they are gone. Thinking in four year terms is too fast. I'd say these policies, laws, budgets, etc, take 8-10 years to impact the country. The really smart people up here see this stuff a mile away, years before the money rolls around, and they set up to get it. It's both amazing and sad.

Plus, "cutting" in the current national picture does not really exist. It's really just moving money around and moving some people here and there. The last time anything really big and really federal got cut, Bush Sr. did it with the military, but it's grown back and then some.

No matter who gets in, the amount of money you keep in your pocket is going to decrease unless you remain upwardly mobile. It's about the growth of government, and it will continue unchecked-- no matter who gets in.

Just my quirky $.02.
