Can anyone recommend a good handyman, painter, and a person that does tile? I'm wanting to do a little work to my townhouse when I get back in May, but don't have a clue on hiring someone to do work on the house.

Thanks in advance!

TomTom

We're looking for a painter to do two or three bedroom size rooms, no trim, just walls. Big Cove area. Any recommendations? Thanks.

I'm using Phillip Oakes "Honey Do Home Improvement" for some painting. I saw his work at another house. The paint looked good and his price is reasonable. I will let you know tomorrow how it turns out.

I would NOT recommend Marathon painting. They painted our entire home 2 years ago and it was a mess...painted light fixtures, towel rods, etc. Worst paint job I've seen and paid top dollar. They came back to "fix" things 3 times and never did come close to getting it corrected, so I gave up. Lots of runs, sloppy over all.

I do have painters here now repainting our master, so as soon as they complete the job, I"ll let you know how it turns out. So far, so good.

Really? I was thinking of them when we finally paint the Lady right...because of their 'historic' credentials. That's a shame...

I'm not at all pleased with the 'recommended' local contractor (PM) we had do over parts of our exterior...needed much rotten siding replaced and I had to keep pointing out bad areas they "missed". Everything took 5 calls back to get it almost right and the paint...was water. And the wrong color the first time around. They did not prime the house first (only some of the new siding) and used a sprayer. Sections are lacking a full coat and you can see the grey boards underneath, especially near the copper roof (which also took two or three attempts)...the red trim and doors are still showing the original colors underneath...they broke an interior window sill away from the wall while replacing the outer trim and/or hanging my shutters because one fellow had to come in through that window - second story off a ladder, too much weight on what was a questionable quality anyway...paint on the windows and screens...stomped all over my garden.
Got so fed up after two months of bringing someone back to paint or patch or...I cut them loose. Fine - enough -go away. I will fix the window. I will repaint. I'm DONE with you. Do not want to see you again. Ever.

And that was a LOT of money.

We will paint the second garage ourselves after replacing the PO rigged door, is why it's still the old, tired color...

33458, That's how I felt with Marathon. I do believe they do more exterior than interior, I have heard. Good thing, lol. They even painted the door stops. When they pulled the tape off of the trim, you could see the old paint color where they missed it. Think they fixed it? Nope! Must be blind, right? I couldn't believe it. I finally said "go away" also, thus repainting my bathroom today with new painters!

PAINTER NEEDS WORK - My husband is a painter and does absolutely great work and at a very reasonable price as we are in need of the income. He has several references he can give and even some interior and exterior jobs that you can go see if you would like (including our own home). He is a perfectionist and you will never be dipleased with his work. Please call him if you need a good reputable painter with very reasonable quotes 256.658.2129. (Huntsville, Madison, Decatur or any of the surrounding areas)
