All of them are planned to be widening to 4 or 5 lanes. The plans are to widen Zierdt to 5 I think and the others are planned to be widened to 4 lanes. I'm not sure though I'd have to look at the development plan again.

Look into this document. It will give you much insights on Huntsville's plan on road expansion from now to 2030. CAUTION: big file (35 Mb)

That was good information. What is the North Bypass? I'm unaware of that!

It's a loop road potential loop expressway (the research park extension) The first part of it was built in 2004 its the MLK parkway road the goes from research park at 53 to the toyota plant at Pulaski pike.

They must gone make the MLK parkway into an expressway because it has traffic lights at some intersections!

Yes but the plans are the southern bypass will not connect to the eastern bypass. You do realize based on the way Alabama finishes road projects we probably won't see a Southern and Northern bypass completed until 2130?

Yeah that's what they claim but Alabama has a history of taking much longer on road projects than planned I was just exaggerating when said 2130 but I doubt they complete all these projects by 2030 unless their is a huge movement in America towards investing more in infrastructure.

I did mention that ALDOT is probably the least efficient and most poorly run state government organization, didn't I? And for the most part Montgomery types could give two flips about anything north of the Tennessee River. Ever notice all the nice freeways and limited access roads in Mississippi? Ever wonder why Alabama can't do that?
