Hi, I've got a pretty big yard and no mower; I live in the country (Harvest) and someone told me I could rent a sheep or two that would weed it for me. Anybody know how this works?

I guess it's a good idea if you also want to clean up after sheep eating all the grass.

When I lived in GA, the man who was almost my FIL had a goat for the same purpose. Uh, mowing the grass, that is.

Goats are better than sheep for weed abatement. The state of California rents large herds for eradicating underbrush in high-fire danger areas. Excellent idea!
Things to consider: Goats or sheep are prey for dogs and other predators. You can't just tie them up, either. You must be fenced and be able to protect the animals. Their manure is like rabbit pellets and doesn't stink. And they will eat EVERYTHING, up to 6 feet from the ground with some taller breeds. Have flowers? Fence them off.
Contact your local breeders and see if they know of anyone willing to lend you some animals. Good place to start:

Good luck! And tell the guys to watch out...goats and sheep can carry VD.

Yeah, the coyotes probably look at them as lunch. And yes, we DO have coyotes in this area.

I think coyotes are about everywhere! I take no chances with my Angora goat kids...they are in covered kennels! Bobcats, mountain lions, even eagles will take the kids.
Even the sweet, nurturing family dog can find a goat kid an irrisistable snack!
