My yarrow dies down every winter and by the end of summer it is brown anyway. I am ready to cut it down. If I could replace my small lawn I would put in black mondo grass. Right now I think MOSS would be great . Enough rain to keep it green and growing.

WHATEVER happened to OCTOBER being one of our driest months?LOL

That would be SWANK. And v.e.r.y. expensive. But man...
I'm going to put some black Mondo over on the rock easement next year when I get to that side. Inspiration - there's a house on Harris (is that Harris?) near the school that has done up their rock retaining...thing...and it looks great. I'd use more evergreens, though, since I think it all dies back come winter.
The dwarf variety might be used by the mailbox as groundcover/erosion control, since mulch won't stay put.

Also want Japanese Blood Grass somewhere.

Has anybody tried Creeping Thyme with any success? Wondering how that'll tolerate wet clay.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that it would. I did a cursory google search and happened across that article - just felt like sharing the quote referrencing the ark.

Hello 33458 -- have given up on creeping thyme here. I have planted it every year here and in the Atlanta area for years and this year is my last. We love the look on a rock wall or bank but by the end of the summer it is dead. I wonder about clay or too much rain? I have amended the soil - not amended the soil - watered and not watered. It just dies. Not wasting my money anymore. Good luck - hope it works for you!

Well with all these rain, more coming this week, it will be the official end of my tomato season. All the leaves got too wet, curl, yellow and turned brown. Still has lots of green tomatoes on the vine, but most leaves are a gonner.

Does anyone remember the song I CAN'T STAND THE RAIN? If I find it, I'll post it. All this wet is so depressing.
