Has anyone heard if there have been pink slips at your childs schools?

I've heard that in a few schools there have been one or two non-tenur teachers pink slipped, but nothing like the 150 projected.

Disappointing to read this type of stuff - especially in Huntsville were there are lots of new homes and lots of families and a relatively healthy local economy. Seems like teachers are getting laid off all over the US too.

They pink slip non-tenured teachers at the end of every school year, then hire them again in August. It's not necessarily something to be concerned about.

From what I understand, that 150 was not all teachers. It included admin staff, janitors, etc.

The 150 is supposedly going to be teachers, counselors, and administrators. Custodial and cafeteria staffs are already on a shoestring. Yes, the first set of pink slips are always temporary hires, but the board has voted to terminate teachers. The hope is that those lost positions might come through retirements or transfers to other systems. I jsut wondered what was going on at other schools.
