Surprised there is no thread on this. Currently, Patricia is the strongest hurricane ever recorded in the Eastern Pacific. Cat 5 with winds of 185mph. However, the most recent recon pass had 192KT flight-level winds. This is the highest ever recorded in ANY hurricane/typhoon on record, and likely translates to a surface sustained of about 200mph. That's insane. Measured pressure was 885mb with 40kt winds, so the actual pressure is probably 880-881, which would be the lowest pressure ever recorded in the Western Hemisphere.
And it's still getting stronger... and heading for land within perhaps 12 hours.
And it's confirmed... central pressure of 880mb, 200mph sustained winds. This is the first tropical system to ever have recorded winds that high, in any basin, let alone the East Pacific.
