IL Track Tested: 2011 Hyundai Sonata Limited With Six-Speed Automatic
They put the track numbers side by side for the stick shift and auto version of the Sonata with the same engine, the direct injection 4 without turbo. In manual, the 0-60 time is 7.5 vs. 8.4 with the auto,...not bad numbers for the base fuel efficient engine.

Not bad, but a far cry from the 6.5 0-60, 15.1 quarter of last years V6.

Yes, but this isn't the optional engine. These are the test numbers of the BASE engine. Last years V6 was the optional engine. Wait for the test numbers for when the turbo engine is released before comparing it to the V6. What you should compare it to is the numbers of last years 4 cylinder which, if I remember correctly, is between 9 to 10 second 0-60

Funny thing about Hyundai. They managed to turn a profit during the recession. I wonder if it has anything to do with their producing desirable vehicles that cost less, perform better, and outlast their domestic counterparts? Hmmm... Funny.

New Sonata is going to fly off the lots. Top 5 global auto companies in 2015: Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, VW, Ford.
