A lot is happening in I. F. this summer. Have you noticed those ads on tv for festivals everywhere from Malad to Butte, MT and some in WY too?

Did anyone go to Hawkefest and see Martina McBride and others? If so, what did you think?

IF is greatly lacking a place to host concerts. Sandy Downs is in great need of a fresh look IMHO. I know there are talks of the event center on SRL, but I think we need a outdoor concert venue on SRL similar to Red Rocks in Colorado. Put it right on the river and incorporate the landscape into the seating and have big river rocks all around. I know we are not a huge destination for big acts, but this would be right down town and accessible by bike or walking from all the hotels. It would drive money into town and draw from MT and WY both. I know the recession hit SRL hard but just dont get the look they are going for. The housing over there has more of a urban feel to me than a "out west Snake River" feel.

I heard Hawkfest was not as big as they would have liked. We were supposed to sell there but they did not sell enough tickets to add us as another vendor. A guy that works with us wife's a dj on air and works closely with Riverbend and said sales were a little disappointing. As a country music fan, I dont want to pay good money to watch a concert in 95 degree weather at an old horse track

Ironically, I did not hear of Hawkfest, until after the fact. Perhaps their marketing needed to be amped up?

couldn't agree more. some sort of cool amphitheater near the river would be great for IF

doesn't have to attempt to bring in huge names. popular bands from the 80s and 90s will do, and then some indy bands that are working their way up right now. no more than 2,000 seats.

Default City, Taylor's Crossing or Snake River Landing

All three have been discussed for amphitheater locations. Check the building thread.

Yes, this is a long-standing idea.

Check the TH concerts at. SRL. See how you like that location for an amphitheater.

Default The War Bonnet Round-up Starts Tonight

I never knew the War Bonnet Round-up was sponsored by the American Legion Post for veterans. Here's a link. http://www.warbonnetroundup.org/
