Which place would be better for the person who loves to hike, camp, atv and hunt - especially hunt. Also, since I am a teacher, it would have to be an weekend warrior situation......thanks
Really all depends on what you expect of your city of residence. Boise is the largest city in Idaho with many attributes that could be found in larger cities, culturally, entertainment-wise, trendy (atleast for Idaho), etc. Pocatello, while not a tiny town, is definitely more small-townish with the basic necessities available, a lower cost of living, etc. Both are within range of the outdoor activities which you seek.
Visited Boise on my way to CDA up north and found it a great town. Small town feel with lots of things to see and do. All the stores one needs to complete there shopping and really friendly people.
If you like lakes, mountains and lots of green trees Id go CDA every time. I don't really like the arid boise area, to dry I need rain and water and lots of green trees.
CDA was on of the nicest most beautiful places Ive ever been. The lakes are fantastic, the town is fun and has lots to do and the people are marvelous. Its dropped right down into the mountains and has this wonderful green wall around it.
Its colder in the winter and snows but if you can deal with a little cold Id say CDA is just such a gem, which is why my family will be moving up their in nov/dec of this year.
CDA is beautiful, has a great small town feel, a wonderful main street, and the politics is the same as mine which is a big change compared to my current so cal life.
And whatever you do go to Jimmys and order the chicken fried steak with biscuits and gravy and a few eggs....Id drive 1000 miles for that alone.
