True story. We had high hopes for my husband to find something fantastic here when we came to the area last spring. But he quickly found out that the jobs are few and far between and the there are MANY applicants to compete with, even for simple entry-level jobs. After being in the industry for 12 years, my husband threw in the towel and headed in a completely different direction. He's now happily employed with the state in a field he never dreamed he'd be in.

For IT jobs in that region, look mainly in Spokane for the job. Lots of places you could live 30-45 minutes from work if you are willing to drive.

Very few good paying IT jobs in N. Idaho. That being said, there are quite a lot of IT professionals (mainly consultants) that live in the area who work remotely and/or travel to client sites.

Many people will ask how is CDA so expensive housing wise when all the jobs in the area are $10/hour? That's how. A lot of people who don't have the traditional 9-5 go to the office every day job, but still make good money. And not just IT, lots of engineers who live in the area but work all over the place.

That's the great thing about the new economy. You don't have to live where you work anymore. And so people can live in remote areas like N. ID, even though there are no jobs in the backyard for them.
