The Perseid Meteor Shower has begun. Wanna see the show? Me too!

If it is not overcast, we'll have the best opportunity beginning after midnight tonight (early Sunday, August 11) and after dark Sunday night into the wee hours of Monday morning. The show will offer sightings of an average of one meteor per minute, and it may be possible to observe as many as 80 meteors at one time.

For viewing, you'll need to be in a dark location away from street or other lights. Watch anywhere in the sky. They will be everywhere!

We've been watching meteors every night for the past week, except for last night when we had another thunderstorm in Clark Fork. We usually plan to be here during the Perseids--when there is no moon, like now, it's sure to be spectacular!

I went out last night to try to see a shower, but we're getting drifting smoke from 2 forest fires, one south of here and the other northwest. Too much haze to see anything! I don't expect tonight will be any better.

Last night we had a great view until around 12:15AM when the sky clouded over.
