For all of you that have moved to Idaho from California (hope to count my family as lucky soon) what is your number 1 favorite thing about living in Idaho that differs from California?

Honestly? I love the varied seasons, granted there are times you can experience a few in one day

Oooohhh tough one as just one reason or the top reason is hard to choose. I'll go with FREEDOM...a lack of big sister looking over my shoulder muttering tisk tisk and issuing me fines for daring to act like a free man.

The people. I love that people here will stop and chat, let you first at a 4-way stop, make room for you to pull your car out of a driveway onto a street, and look out for each other in bad weather, look out for their neighbors, etc.

I'd like to revise my previous comment. What I really, really like about Idaho is that when I'm on a long-distant bicycle ride, out away from an urban area, the cars and trucks that pass me do so with 'lots' of room. Unless there is oncoming traffic, without fail, a passing car/truck will go at least half-way over into the other lane, across the double-yellow line when passing me. I can't remember ever feeling so safe when out riding. Thank you, Idaho.

Unfortunately, I think that perk is fading. I've already almost been run off the road on my bike recently, and I was all of the way to the right and riding safely. Maybe it was an ex-Californian who almost got me!

Or a Utah driver. They don't want to move here, but they sure love to play here, and they're notorious for their aggressive driving. Much worse than Californians in general.
