My husband and I are looking to move to western Idaho in 2019. He is a General Contractor and wants to continue working. I am involved in horses, cutting horses specifically. We are hard working, conservative Christians who love to hunt/fish and ride our horses. We are being forced out of our beautiful home in northern CA. due to the taxes, politics, regulation/fees/taxes on home building industry. We like to raise our own meat birds, hogs, and a cow so need 3 to 20 acres of good horse ground. Need excellent DVM's who also practice acupuncture, massage and the like for equine and k-9's. Need good internet and cell as well. Thank you in advance for any thoughts you may have. Excited to see Idaho in 2019.

Idaho is a huge state, especially in the latitudinal direction. Are you thinking of southwest Idaho, central west Idaho, or northwest Idaho.

Currently, there is lots of work for contractors and I'm pretty sure that is all over the state of Idaho. It's just about impossible to get anyone to do any sort of small job .

I don't know where the cutting horse area is. There are some quality horses around my area in North Idaho but I don't see a lot of horses or livestock. The small farms are being paved over with tract houses. There is still some very nice alfalfa grown here.

There are lots of family farm size farms around Moscow. I've not been far off the highway in that area, so don't know about horse and cattle population.

HI Volosong, We are looking at Weiser and north. McCall is beautiful but looks more forestey. Currently we live in forest wanting more flats. Love Driggs/ Victor area but appreciate more bang for our buck in southwestern, western part of Idaho. Less house more land.

Have you considered Emmet? Really nice area. Lots of farms. Also Caldwell, Middleton. Make you have a place with well and water rights. Water is EVERYTHING here if you want farming or self-sufficiency. Homedale an Wilder also great for farming animals and land is not expensive.

Weiser is probably a good area to consider. Acreage at better prices but close to where homes are being built. East of Moscow might work too. Possibly outskirts of Twin Falls. Like maybe outside Gooding.

Default little ranch

we have something that seems close to what your describing.
right about 3acres, about 8 miles outside of Weiser.
has a well, septic and water shares
a little 1900 farmhouse that was rented up until a few months ago.

we are considering selling it. Condition of house won't qualify for loan

just throwin that out there if it something that fits your conditions

If you click on Crick Mann's name in the upper left-hand corner of the post, you'll see a drop-down menu with some options, including "Send a direct message to Crick Mann." Click on that, and a new window opens.
