Here is another perspective; one thing is the fallout from the ID Supreme Court abortion ruling; another is the problem of rural health care:

Hi, BassAngler...
I don't think you looked at Utah seriously enough. The Mormons aren't intolerant of Gentiles at all. They won't hassle you, but you could be asked by someone if you are LDS by a neighbor. They make good neighbors, but it's best if a person reciprocates a neighborly good turn with another when the opportunity arises later on.

If you are religious, you'll find your faith has a church in the region. If not, you would find only about half of the LDS are regular church-goers; the other half have a lot of folks who seldom or never go to church.

There are distinct cultural differences there, but living there is very much like living in any city in the intermountain west.

Logan is a nice town, enough removed from SLC that the pace of life there is more laid-back, and the surrounding countryside is beautiful. It's a college town, so it has an active social and cultural scene going on there.

It's around the same size as Idaho Falls, Pocatello, and Coeur d'Alene; over 50,000 people.

The OP should know that Cache County, where Logan is at, has one of the highest percentages of LDS in the nation. Those of us who grew up or near an area with a lot of LDS know what it is like. Someone who isn't acclimated or aware will definitely be in for a culture shock.
